SAVE FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER SYDNEY FEBRUARY 18TH

On February 18th an extraordinary event with the sponsorship of Bench International was hosted by the NSW branch of SAVE at Doltone House Sydney. Themed African Chic some 200 + guests dug deep into their pockets during the nights festivities bidding on African Safaris and African artifacts in both the live and silent auctions. Members of the Perth committee Nicholas Duncan, Nia Carras and Kim Hoddy flew to Sydney especially for the event where Nicholas enthralled guests with his knowledge and recent experience in the field. The initiatives of the night were to raise funds to fight the illegal poaching of the African Rhinoceros and to provide them with safe havens where they can breed. At the moment the Black Rhinoceros is critically endangered. We wanted to educate people as to the plight of these magnificent beasts across the African continent. Rhinos would live to some forty years without intervention from mankind slaying them for their horn . This horn has been proven to have no medicinal properties whatsoever yet is currently fetching $50,000 USD a kilo on the black-market. These goals were achieved on the night and we raised $50,000 which will be used where it is most needed in the immediate future.

Events in 2011 - Dolotone House

The SAVE Foundation (NSW) is putting on an extraordinary African themed event on Friday 18th February 2011. To be held at Doltone House, Darling Harbour, the cost is $120 per person and all funds raised will go towards the endangered African rhinoceros. It promises to be an exciting night, with a 2 course sit-down dinner, beer and wines and a lively auction including an African Safari. This is an opportunity to purchase some exquisite hand chosen African homewares and artefacts, and enjoy a great night out, whilst supporting a very valuable cause. Africa is losing one rhino a day to poachers seeking their horns for the Eastern medicinal market. At this alarming rate they will be extinct in the wild in 5 years. We simply cannot sit back and watch one of the Big Five disappear from our planet for such senseless beliefs.
